An overview of a day at nursery
A typical day at Ruislip Stars Nurseries begins at 7am, when children arrive and explore a variety of inviting learning areas including the home corner, book zone, outdoor garden and messy play space. Breakfast is served at 8:30am, offering cereals, toast and fresh fruit with milk or water. At 9am, themed activities planned by practitioners are set out across the nursery and garden, supporting children to learn through play while working towards their developmental targets. Snack is offered at 10am for a short window, with fresh fruit prepared by our chef and optional technology time featuring songs, games and interactive stories. Children then join their age‑group circle times for focused learning. At 11:30am, they enjoy a healthy home‑made lunch with vegetarian options and careful allergy management. After lunch, nappies are changed and children settle for nap time—usually between 12:30pm and 2pm—while non‑sleepers take part in additional activities and free play.
The afternoon continues with technology time and a vegetable‑based snack at 2:30pm, followed by free play. At 4:15pm, children join their age‑group sessions again for targeted learning before sitting down to a hot, freshly prepared dinner at 4:30pm. After dinner, children enjoy relaxed free play supported by practitioners who extend learning through games and child‑led activities. From 5pm, children continue playing until parents arrive for collection. Practitioners share personalised feedback about each child’s day, and parents also receive an email summarising meals, activities and photos, giving a complete and reassuring picture of their child’s experiences.
